Wood Stoves Home
A wood-burning stove is capable of burning wood, or wood products.
It usually is made of cast iron or steel and has a fire chamber. The wood stove needs to be connected to a chimney or flue.
Because the gasses coming from the fire are hotter than the colder air outside, the gasses will go up the chimney to the outside.
It is of extreme importance to have a carbon monoxide detector in the room when burning wood. Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a gas formed in the combustion of organic matter. It is a tasteless, colorless and odorless gas that can kill.
A working CO detector will give warning signs when the CO level gets to high.
Always make sure the room is well ventilated when burning wood in a wood stove.
